Iran's gas network remains stable amid record consumption

SHANA (Tehran) – The managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) announced that the country's gas network has remained stable despite unprecedented consumption levels.

On Monday, domestic, commercial, and small industrial sectors consumed a record 681 million cubic meters of gas, yet no gas supply disruptions have been reported.

Speaking to the state news network on Tuesday, Saeid Tavakoli highlighted that the 681 million cubic meters consumed in the past 24 hours marked a new record for gas usage on a holiday, a level previously unseen.

He noted that last year’s peak consumption for the same sectors was similar but occurred on a non-holiday. This volume accounts for 78% of the total gas produced and delivered to the national gas network.

Tavakoli emphasized that the gas supply network has maintained optimal stability, with no reported outages. He praised the efforts of NIGC staff across the country for ensuring reliable gas supply to households and businesses.

With cold weather persisting, Tavakoli urged citizens, particularly those in northern and northeastern regions, to join the "Two Degrees Lower" initiative to help manage gas consumption effectively.
