Hassan Mousavi, spokesperson for the National Iranian Gas Company, stated that on Monday, 871 mcm of natural gas were produced and injected into the national grid. Of this amount, 681 mcm were consumed by the residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial sectors.
Mousavi emphasized that gas consumption in these sectors increased by 36% compared to the same day last year, driven by recent rainfall and falling temperatures in most provinces.
He added that 78% of the total natural gas delivered to the national grid was allocated to the residential, commercial, and small-scale industrial sectors.
Following the cold snap and forecasts of further temperature drops, President Masoud Pezeshkian, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, and other officials urged the public to participate in the "2 Degrees Less" campaign. Through video and written messages, they called for optimal energy use and cooperation in ensuring winter fuel supplies.
