IGTC announces 4-bcm increase in gas transfer over 10 months

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Iranian Gas Transmission Company (IGTC) announced that 252 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas have been transferred through the network by the end of Dey 1403 (January 19, 2025), marking a 4-bcm increase compared to the same period last year.

Peyman Khazraei noted that from the beginning of the current year (March 20, 2024) to the end of Dey, over 252 bcm of produced gas were transferred through the network for residential, industrial, and power plant use.

He stated that during this year’s cold days, seven gas transfer records were broken compared to previous years, reflecting the round-the-clock efforts of the company’s employees amid declining temperatures and rising natural gas consumption.

Highlighting the company’s physical assets, Khazraei said IGTC is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating over 40,000 kilometers of high-pressure pipelines, 94 gas pressure boosting facilities, and 347 turbo compressors.

Additionally, the company manages 9,000 kilometers of active fiber optics and 4,000 kilometers of nationwide microwave links within its communication infrastructure.

Khazraei pointed to the official commissioning of the Shahid Dehshir 8 gas pressure boosting facility, the ICT and IOC building in Gas Transmission Region 2, and the pipeline operation centers in Yazd, Sari, and Ilam during the Ten Days of Fajr (January 31-ebruary 10).

These projects were developed by Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company. Over the past year, approximately 5,000 kilometers of intelligent pigging and cleaning, 38,500 kilometers of leak detection, 2,000 meters of pipeline replacement, 126,000 square meters of coating replacement, and 34 hot taps were carried out on nationwide pipelines.

He emphasized that the company has completed major overhauls of 47 gas turbines, supplied and delivered clean industrial computers and external hard drives, and addressed all aspects of maintenance services, including the provision of gas turbine parts.

In line with the year’s motto, “Production Leap with Public Participation,” Khazraei noted that identifying, evaluating, and collaborating with science and technology parks and domestic new technology-based firms has led to the localization of hundreds of components.

This includes the complete production of sensor sets and vibration tools for the cold and hot sections of various turbo compressors.

Khazraei added that this year, 20 million incident-free working hours were recorded at Iran Gas Transmission Company. Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions during pipeline pigging and repair operations, the use of treated wastewater, waste separation, and the implementation of research projects to develop emission coefficients and calculate greenhouse gas emissions are among the company’s notable initiatives aligned with carbon management and environmental preservation.

In conclusion, he expressed hope that with the cooperation of citizens in optimizing gas consumption, this divine blessing can be delivered to consumers in a sustainable, clean, safe, and efficient manner.
