NIOPDC daily distribution of petroleum products hits 320m liters

SHANA (Tehran) - The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company announced an unprecedented distribution of 153 million liters of diesel on Saturday, as temperatures in more than 18 provinces across the country dropped below freezing.

Including gasoline and other products, daily distribution has now exceeded 320 million liters, a historic record, said Kerameh Veis-Karami on Sunday.

Stating that on Saturday, 153 million liters of diesel were distributed nationwide, he added that of this amount, over 52 million liters were delivered to power plants, with the remainder allocated to transportation, agriculture, industry, and road construction sectors.

The official added that in the ninth month of Iranian calendar which started on November 21, an average of 123 million liters of gasoline has been distributed daily to the country’s transportation sector.
Including other products such as kerosene, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and mazut, total distribution has reached 320 million liters per day.

Highlighting the large-scale operations required to maintain this level of distribution, Veis-Karami said his colleagues are working around the clock at production and distribution hubs to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply to various industrial and residential sectors.

He urged citizens, officials, and experts to prioritize optimal fuel management by joining the “Two Degrees Less” campaign aimed at conserving energy.

Over 71m liters of fuel delivery to power plants

Veis-Karami also reported a record-breaking delivery of more than 74 million liters of liquid fuel to power plants in recent days, averaging 71 million liters daily in the ninth month of Iranian calendar.
This represents a 27% increase compared to corresponding figure of the previous year.

One reason for the depletion of power plant fuel reserves, he explained, is the prohibition on using mazut from June to October, which led to increased consumption of diesel from reserves.
He noted that if an additional 10 million liters of fuel oil had been consumed daily in power plants during that period, the country’s diesel reserves for winter would have been approximately 1.5 billion liters higher.
