Fuel delivery to power plants increases by 4b liters, up over 40%

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Iran’s National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) announced a 43% increase in the delivery of liquid fuel to power plants compared to last year.

Keramat Veis-Karami said that, compared to last year, an additional 4 billion liters of diesel and mazut have been delivered to power plants this year, marking a 42% overall growth.

He added that in the first 22 days of the ninth month of the current Iranian year of 1403 (November 21–December 12), an average of 45 million liters of diesel were delivered daily to power plants nationwide.

This figure represents an increase of 8 million liters compared to the same period in 1402 (ended March 19, 2024) and 14 million liters compared to 1401 (ended March 20, 2023).

Veis-Karami emphasized that the increased gasoil delivery to power plants was made possible by boosting diesel production at domestic refineries to approximately 124 million liters per day and adding nearly 2,400 tanker trucks to the country’s fuel transportation fleet under the 14th administration.

Referring to colder temperatures in the coming days, Veis-Karami urged citizens to conserve gas and electricity to ensure the country’s energy needs are met sustainably.
