On Wednesday, during a session on preventing gas shortages in the winter at the Iranian Parliament's Joint Commission, Minister Mohsen Paknejad said that efforts have been made to boost raw gas production capacity in the upstream oil sector, both offshore and onshore, which will support the volume of gas supplied to the network. He also emphasized that the ministry is working to manage gas consumption by relying on liquid fuels when necessary.
The minister further commented on the impact of the activation of the "snapback" mechanism on Iran's oil exports, noting that this development does not add anything new to the existing sanctions. He explained that in the past two years, 25 sanction packages, including 470 to 480 new sanctions, had been imposed on Iran.
Paknejad added that the most severe and painful sanctions targeting the oil industry, particularly the sale of Iranian oil, were introduced through the "Ship Act" last year during the presidency of Joe Biden. He emphasized that no new sanctions could be imposed on Iran that would be more burdensome than the existing ones.
