No plans to raise gasoline prices at present

SHANA (Tehran) – The vice president for executive affairs announced that the government subsidizes each liter of gasoline in Iran by 40,000 tomans (0.52 dollar), emphasizing that discussing imbalances in gasoline production and consumption does not imply an intention to raise prices under current circumstances.

Mohammad-Jafar Qhaempanah who is also the Chief of Staff added that gasoline is sold at a subsidized rate of 3,000 tomans per liter, and the government covers a subsidy of 40,000 tomans per liter.

He noted that, in many countries, gasoline serves as a source of government revenue. However, the officialca reiterated that addressing gasoline imbalances should not be interpreted as a signal of any immediate price hikes.

Qaempanah noted that the government spends around 6 trillion tomans (approximately $78 million) daily on subsidies, a significant contributor to inflation and the country’s budget deficit.
