NIOC stresses need to boost gas storage in Eastern Iran

SHANA (Tehran) – Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), emphasized the importance of enhanced technical management and gas storage planning in eastern Iran.

Speaking on Saturday during a specialized meeting at the Khangiran operational area, Bovard underscored the need for forward-thinking in reservoir management to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to northeastern provinces during the upcoming winter.

During the meeting, Bovard praised the dedication and discipline of East Oil and Gas Production company employees and highlighted the importance of addressing the welfare of workers’ families and providing education for their children, especially in remote areas like Sarakhs.

He called for strengthening technical management in the region and implementing practical solutions to extend the lifespan of gas reservoirs.

“Before discovering new reservoirs, we must explore innovative approaches to improve operational technical management. This will boost efficiency and prioritize serious efforts to enhance gas storage initiatives,” Bovard said.

Referring to the gas supply for northeastern provinces during the anticipated harsh winter, Bovard urged intensified efforts to ensure uninterrupted gas transmission.

“Mashhad, as a major tourist and pilgrimage city, plays a vital role. Collaboration with hotels to reduce gas consumption can contribute to a national effort to manage fuel consumption,” he added.

Before the meeting, Bovard visited key sites in eastern Iran, including the Tous Gas Field, Fat’h Rig 91, the CMF measurement center, and wells 47 and 85 in Khangiran.
