MPs highlight support for investment projects in South Pars

SHANA (Tehran) – The deputy chairman of the Special Committee for Supporting Production and Monitoring the Implementation of the General Policies of Article 44 of the Constitution announced that with the approval of a financing law, investment projects in the strategic South Pars region will be supported, and key projects in the area will be completed.

Hadi Qavami, during a visit to the fifth refinery of the South Pars Gas Complex on Wednesday (Feb. 19), stated: "Today, by being present at the South Pars Gas Complex, we witness the grandeur of the greatest achievement of the Islamic Revolution, and we commend all the specialists and employees of this complex."

He noted that over 70% of the country's gas needs are produced in the South Pars refineries, adding: "Since the beginning of the South Pars projects, over $100 billion has been invested, and the annual production value of various products from this complex has now reached $100 billion. We congratulate all the hardworking individuals of South Pars for this tremendous achievement."

Qavami also referred to the unjust sanctions imposed by the U.S. in recent years, stating: "The innovative and capable workforce across the South Pars refineries, by implementing best practices and using domestically produced goods, has excelled in gas extraction from the shared gas field. We have now achieved a highly favorable position in gas sweetening and the production of other products."

He added: "Valuable technical and engineering work has been implemented in the South Pars Gas Complex. According to the latest performance report, in 2024, the gas production of this complex has increased by an amount equivalent to three days of the country's gas consumption."

Qavami emphasized: "With the approval of financing for strategic South Pars projects in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, diverse financing methods will be introduced, and key projects will be completed swiftly. We will support the opportunities available in the energy capital of the country."

South Pars: Economic lifeline of Iran

Qavami highlighted that the South Pars Gas Complex refineries have become a vital economic artery for the country, stating: "With national pride, about 40% of the country's gasoline production is now dependent on the gas liquids produced by the South Pars refineries."

He continued: "Approximately 50% of the feedstock for the country's petrochemical plants and about 50% of the gas delivered to power plants are supplied by the South Pars Gas Complex. This complex has excelled thanks to its capable workforce."

Qavami stressed the need to develop existing capacities and opportunities through precise planning and to implement necessary investments in the shortest possible time to take significant steps toward the country's development.

Voice of South Pars workers

Qavami acknowledged the crucial role of South Pars workers in sustainable gas production, stating: "We are the voice of South Pars workers in the parliament, and we will solve the issues faced by the workers of the South Pars refineries through proper measures."

He mentioned the valuable actions taken in recent months to address the concerns of contract workers, adding: "We must listen to the workforce and seriously address the issues of hardworking workers. The status and dignity of South Pars workers must be elevated."

Qavami praised the efforts of the South Pars Gas Complex employees, stating: "Your great and worthy work has led to pure production, which is a source of pride for the country. Just as timely and high-quality annual maintenance keeps the equipment young and efficient; the workforce should also be recognized based on their efforts, skills, and expertise, which will boost their morale."

He added: "The 12th parliament, especially the Special Committee for Supporting National Production and Monitoring Article 44 policies, is striving to ensure that production companies operate according to corporate governance principles and modern technology standards."

Review of oil sector wages

Zeynab Qeisari, a member of the Special Committee for Supporting Production and Monitoring the Implementation of the General Policies of Article 44 of the Constitution, also spoke during the visit to the fifth refinery of the South Pars Gas Complex.

She stated: "The employees of the South Pars Gas Complex are now on the front lines of economic jihad and have excelled under difficult conditions. I commend you, the specialists and workers of this complex, for bringing honor and pride to the country."

She added: "Now that the focus is on the country's energy imbalance, many have realized the magnitude and difficulty of your work in South Pars, where you tirelessly work day and night to ensure the stability and supply of gas for our compatriots during these very cold days. Your work is a great achievement for the country."

Qeisari noted: "One of the main issues for the 12th parliament is the review of wages and salaries for employees and specialists of this complex across all job levels. Addressing this issue will strengthen the country's energy sector workforce, enabling them to continue their work with greater motivation and power, paving the way for the implementation of the seventh development plan."

She added: "The National Iranian Gas Company has become one of the most important sectors of the country's industry. We have always said that nowhere in the world is there such an extensive network of gas refineries, thousands of kilometers of gas transmission lines, and gas stations as in our beloved country. This is a significant achievement for the Islamic Revolution. To sustain these achievements, we must move toward increasing production and proper consumption management."

Qeisari emphasized the strong collaboration among the relevant commissions in the 12th parliament, stating: "The classification of jobs and human resources issues have been resolved with the support of representatives from the oil industry, and we will continue to expand this support to address the important issues of workers at all levels in South Pars."
