Energy imbalance mitigation headquarters formation discussed

SHANA (Tehran) – The spokesperson for the Energy Committee of the Parliament announced that the formation of a headquarters to address energy imbalances was discussed during the commission's meeting.

Jalil Mokhtar stated that the members of the national energy imbalance mitigation headquarters should consist of deputies and senior officials from relevant organizations and ministries, with experts serving as advisors alongside them.

The lawmaker noted that during the Sunday afternoon meeting of the Energy Committee, the formation of the energy imbalance mitigation headquarters was reviewed.

The meeting was attended by the CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, the CEO of Tavanir (Iran’s Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution Management Company), the deputy for planning at the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, the deputy minister of communications, the head of the Information Technology Organization, the head of energy affairs at the Plan and Budget Organization, and other officials.

Mokhtar highlighted that Ramezanali Sangdovini, the deputy chairman of the Energy Committee, was selected to lead the headquarters.

During the meeting, invited officials presented their proposals on how to establish the headquarters and emphasized that its members should include relevant deputies from organizations and ministries, with experts serving as advisors. They also stressed the need for the Energy Committee to finalize and present the headquarters' bylaws as soon as possible.

The Energy Committee spokesperson emphasized that since the commission is closely watched by the public, organizations must regularly report their actions aligned with mitigating energy imbalances to the commission.

Mokhtar added that it was decided during the meeting that 14 mega-projects planned by Tavanir would be implemented under the supervision of this energy imbalance mitigation headquarters. It was also proposed that the headquarters be inaugurated with the presence of the parliament speaker, incorporating his insights.

He further noted that the meeting emphasized leveraging the capacities of the private sector, syndicates, tech-based institutions, electricity unions, and chambers of commerce to address and manage the challenges of energy imbalance.
