NISOC announces daily collection of 40 mcf of flare gas at Rag Sefid

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) announced the daily collection of 40 million cubic feet (mcf) of flare gas at Rag Sefid and stated that upon the project’s completion, over 120 mcf per day of associated gas will be collected at Rag Sefid.

Ebrahim Piramoun made the announcement on Thursday, during a visit by members of the Energy Committee to oil and gas facilities in the southern oil-rich regions.

He said the first phase of the flare gas collection project at the Rag Sefid field has been completed, and approximately 40 million cubic feet of gas is now being collected daily from the field.

Piramoun noted that the first phase of this significant project has been operationalized, with the second and third phases set to launch in the coming weeks. He added that once fully completed, the project will collect over 120 mcf per day of associated gas at Rag Sefid, marking a major step in reducing gas flaring.

The NISOC CEO expressed gratitude to the Persian Gulf Holding, NISOC, and the Aghajari Oil and Gas Operating Company for their roles in executing this key project.

He said, “I am very pleased that we have operationalized the first major project in the flare gas collection initiative in collaboration with Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC), and we expect further progress in this area in the near future.”

Piramoun expressed hope that with the completion and launch of other flare gas collection projects, gas flaring will be minimized by the end of the Iranian year 1405 (March 2026), taking a significant step toward environmental preservation and energy optimization.

Musa Ahmadi, head of the Energy Committee of the Parliament, along with other commission members, visited the Aghajari Oil and Gas Operating Company and inspected operational facilities in the southern oil-rich regions in the southwest of the country.

During the visit, Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, and Ebrahim Piramoun, CEO of NISOC, provided a report on the latest developments in flare gas collection, production optimization, and the expansion of oil industry infrastructure.

Members of the Energy Commission also visited several key projects, including the construction of the Isar City Power Substation in Omidiyeh, the Aghajari Rag Sefid Dehydration Project, and the Rag Sefid Flare Gas Collection Project, gaining insight into their progress and their role in enhancing the efficiency of the oil industry.
