According to president.ir, Pezeshkian on Wednesday reviewed the latest progress on major energy and infrastructure initiatives, including development of the Azadegan oil field, a rapid 250,000-barrel-per-day oil production increase, flare-gas recovery efforts, and pressure-boosting plans at the South Pars gas field. The meeting included the ministers of oil; cooperatives, labor and social welfare; and economy and finance, as well as the head of the Planning and Budget Organization and several senior officials, including the heads of a number of banks.
The review began with the status of the Azadegan oil field development project. Following the previous meeting, the president had requested participation from relevant ministers, government officials, and managers from banks that are shareholders in the project. Existing obstacles were examined, decisions were made to address them, and the participants agreed to implement those decisions within two weeks and report back.
It was also decided that if the measures fail to produce results, a follow-up meeting in two weeks will determine the project’s next steps.
The meeting also included a detailed review of the flare-gas recovery program, and officials approved actions to accelerate implementation.
No Official Should Ignore the Waste of National Resources
On flare-gas control, Pezeshkian said no official should remain indifferent to the burning of the nation’s wealth and resources, especially when it contributes significantly to air pollution. He stressed that not even one day should be overlooked in speeding up progress on all parts of the project.
He added that procuring equipment for this and other projects must not be delayed by bureaucracy. While domestic manufacturing should be prioritized, he said suppliers must closely examine the quality and cost of equipment, the production capacity of domestic manufacturers, and whether equipment is genuinely produced domestically or assembled locally from imported parts and sold at higher prices.
The president directed that an online dashboard be created as soon as possible so he can personally and visually monitor the technical progress of the flare-gas recovery projects daily from his office.
The meeting also reviewed the status of the rapid 250,000-barrel-per-day oil increase initiative and the pressure-boosting plan at South Pars, and approved steps to speed up both efforts.
