Parliament seeks to remove barriers to investment in oil industry

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Energy Committee in Parliament emphasized the need to streamline regulations to attract investment in the oil and gas industry, stating that Parliament is seriously focused on investment and will provide both legal and operational support.

In response to a question about Parliament's plans to facilitate domestic and foreign investment in the oil sector, Mousa Ahmadi said: "One of the key sectors for investment in the 'Year of Production-Focused Investment' is the oil and gas industry. Fortunately, the Oil Ministry has already signed several significant contracts, including the South Pars pressure enhancement project."

He stressed that Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf is also focused on removing obstacles, repeatedly emphasizing that legislative action will be taken if necessary. "Parliament takes investment seriously, and support will extend beyond legislation to include practical and operational measures," Ahmadi added.

Highlighting the need to strengthen private sector involvement, Ahmadi said: "Conditions must be created for the private sector to invest with confidence and security. Parliament will collaborate to identify and address potential obstacles and challenges."

Ahmadi noted the formation of an imbalance task force within Parliament's Energy Committee, which has held meetings with experts from the Oil and Energy Ministries to discuss specialized perspectives.

Regarding the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition, he said: "What stood out to me this year was the significant focus on artificial intelligence. This shift marks a major development in the oil industry, symbolizing self-sufficiency and reliance on domestic capabilities."
