Gas cut off to over 2,000 vacant villas in Tehran Province

SHANA (Tehran) – In a bid to prevent gas pressure drops during peak demand, the Tehran Gas Company has disconnected gas service to more than 2,000 unoccupied garden villas across the province.

Alireza Avani, the company’s managing director, stated on Saturday that following directives from the National Iranian Gas Company, we have begun cutting gas supplies to vacant villas in Tehran Province to maintain stable pressure levels, adding so far, over 2,000 properties have been disconnected.

Avani stressed the importance of responsible gas usage among Tehran’s residents, noting “Households that reduce their gas consumption by more than 10% between November 6 and March 5, 2025, compared to the same period last year, will receive a conservation bonus equivalent to a 15% discount on their bill.

Avani noted that last [Iranian] year, over one million households who practiced gas-saving measures benefited from this reward program.

He added, “Currently, our monitoring teams are working around the clock, keeping an eagle eye on gas usage in government offices, public facilities, and yes, those ghostly vacant villas too, ensuring optimal consumption.”

And let’s not forget those uninhabited villas, the official stated adding the monitoring process for such properties, as well as government buildings, will continue without pause.
