TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) said the 8th refinery of the complex was able to generate $2 million by preventing burning of natural gas at its flare stacks over the course of the previous Iranian calendar year which ended on March 20.

According to the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Hadi Hashemizadeh Farhang said that the complex was undergoing developments in order to optimize operation of its refineries.

SPGC processes the natural gas recovered from various phases of South Pars gas field in Persian Gulf waters.

He said not allowing the burning of gas in flare stacks of Refinery No. 8 of the complex had been environmentally effective besides generating revenues for the plant.
