
TEHRAN -- After gas injecting South Pars gas into Aghajari oil field, its crude output will increase by 1.2 billion barrels.
The field has so far produced about 8.8 billion barrels oil.
Aghajari oil field produced one million barrels oil per day in 1974, but its current output stands at 200,000 barrels a day.
According to gas injection project, 20 trillion cu. ft. (566 billion cu. m.) gas will be injected into the field.
The project started in January 2001 and has so far progressed by more than 50 percent and is projected to end during the first half of 2005.
The project includes geophysical studies, 3-D seismography, drilling 19 new wells and repairing 5 production wells and will cost 2,074 billion rials.
