Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IndianOil) on Friday said that it has successfully commissioned the hydrocracker unit at its Panipat Refinery.

This is part of the ongoing refinery expansion project of IndianOil to double capacity from 6 to 12 million tonnes per annum. In a statement issued here, the company said that this is the fourth hydrocracker unit of IndianOil, the other three are operating at Gujarat, Panipat and Mathura refineries. The unit, with 1,700,000 tons per annum capacity, is designed for 97% conversion of heavy oil into high value distillates, enabling maximized production of middle distillates in high demand, the company said. The hydrocracker is the third major unit of the Panipat Refinery expansion project to go on stream after the successful commissioning of the hydrogen generation unit in November and diesel hydrotreatment unit last week. According to the company, commissioning activities of other major units of the Rs 4,300-crore refinery expansion project are in full swing. PIN/INDIAN INFOLINE
