Rouhollah Abbaspour said Iran is among the regional countries rich in renewable energy resources, and tapping into these sources could help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, curb air pollution, enhance energy security and drive economic growth.
“Renewables—especially solar panels—are among the solutions that can provide stable and reliable energy for producers, industries and the public,” Abbaspour said. “Undoubtedly, using such energy sources will help cut production and maintenance costs, boost productivity and output capacity, and reduce air pollution.”
He emphasized that the expansion of renewables requires conditions that encourage private-sector investment. “Energy generated from renewables should be allocated to production,” Abbaspour said, adding that imbalances in both business and industrial sectors have caused serious harm to the country.
Abbaspour said policy direction must move toward the use of solar power plants. He noted that Iran’s Seventh Development Plan outlines the share of national electricity that should come from renewable sources.
