Ebrahim Piramoun spoke on Wednesday at the first "Energy Consumption Optimization Day" conference in Ahvaz, pointing to existing imbalances in various sectors of the country. He stated that the root of this issue lies in the high rate of energy waste in industries and households. For this reason, NISOC is striving to play an effective role in improving the situation by enhancing productivity and implementing optimization programs.
Highlighting Iran’s prominent position in oil and gas reserves and the key role of southern oil-rich regions in the country’s energy supply, he added that the company, which accounts for over 75% of oil production and significant gas output, has seen remarkable production growth in recent years.
The NISOC CEO noted that energy optimization in Iran today is not only an environmental and global obligation but also a multidimensional approach with economic benefits and a significant role in reducing energy imbalances. He stressed its importance in the production process, stating that by improving turbine performance, gas consumption can be reduced by up to 50%, while system efficiency can be doubled.
Piramoun announced that by the end of this year, the production of 200 megawatts of solar power and 400 megawatts from thermal power plants has been targeted. He also said studies on the construction of wind power plants are underway to potentially utilize this resource for electricity generation.
