Minister says crude sales continue under previous methods

SHANA (Tehran) – Oil minister said Tuesday that crude oil sales are continuing through the same mechanisms used before a recent 60-day sanctions waiver period, following the US breach of that agreement.

According to IRIB, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad addressed the state of crude exports amid the enemy's bad faith. He said that when the 60-day exemption from US oil sanctions began — a provision outlined in the 10th clause of the Islamabad MoU — Iranian officials decided to keep existing sanctions-evasion structures in place rather than dismantle them, citing a history of US noncompliance with past deals.

Paknejad said that decision proved justified after roughly 15 days, when he said the US violated the provision, consistent with the past pattern of broken commitments.

He emphasized that Iran's oil sales are continuing under the same framework used previously.

During the period the restrictions were eased, Paknejad said, Iran worked to move a significant volume of oil beyond the reach of the blockade. He added that current mechanisms now allow Iran to sell oil much as it did before the exemption took effect.
