According to the company, Alireza Sarmadi said that in the past, restarting South Pars wells was often delayed due to high pressure differences across the downhole valve. He added that the absence of a pressure equalization system in some phases extended the restart time of those platforms to between 12 and 24 hours. In contrast, platforms equipped with pressure equalization systems or Self-Equalize downhole valves can return to production in less than two hours.
Sarmadi noted that reducing production downtime not only prevents financial and environmental losses during the startup process but also results in significant methanol savings.
Sadegh Lari-Mojarad, deputy manager of production and operations engineering at Pars Oil and Gas Company, highlighted the substantial economic benefits of the initiative, saying that thanks to the coordinated efforts of the production, maintenance, operations engineering, technical inspection, safety, and logistics units, well restarts during this year’s overhauls were carried out in the shortest possible time and with maximum operational efficiency.
According to the report, during the annual maintenance program of South Pars gas platforms this year, overhauls of 29 platforms have been successfully completed on schedule, while maintenance work on the remaining platforms is still underway.
