Speaking on the sidelines of the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2025), Omid Shakeri referenced this year’s national slogan and the petroleum minister’s emphasis on backing knowledge-based companies, saying: "We have a variety of measures and programs in place to support these companies and increase their share and influence across different sectors of the oil industry."
Highlighting one of the ministry’s key initiatives, he added: "First-time production is central to our support. This means complex industrial products previously sourced from abroad are now entrusted to Iranian knowledge-based companies. If successful—which has often been the case—the company becomes an official domestic manufacturer, meeting the industry’s needs locally."
The deputy minister for engineering, research, and technology further noted: "Alongside this approach, we offer various financial tools to support these companies, including guaranteed purchase financing, domestic letters of credit (LCs), liability insurance to mitigate risks for first-time production users, and measures to build confidence among operators."
Shakeri emphasized: "Many knowledge-based companies that now produce and even export highly sophisticated industrial products started with little experience. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the petroleum ministry’s support package."
He also addressed challenges these companies face in the oil industry’s supply chain, stating: "We have two types of clients: subsidiaries of the petroleum ministry, which collaborate well with knowledge-based companies, and major oil industry contractors in development projects. We hope these contractors will also trust domestic tech firms, expanding their market beyond ministry affiliates."
Concluding with optimism about the future of tech and knowledge-based companies, Shakeri said: "Our goal is to create a foundation for their sustained and impactful presence in Iran’s oil industry while boosting domestic capabilities in producing advanced equipment and technologies."
