Hassan Abbaszadeh, speaking on Thursday on the sidelines of the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition, noted the president’s visit to petrochemical companies and announced that the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone will establish a utility supply corridor in Phase 3 of Asalouyeh to accommodate downstream petrochemical industries in the area.
Highlighting efforts to complete the value chain—a priority stressed by the president—Abbaszadeh said, “Our goal is to move from semi-finished materials to the complementary sector. To encourage this, the Seventh Development Plan includes incentives such as a 30% feedstock discount for investors entering or operating in downstream industries.”
Regarding Phase 3 development in Asalouyeh, he said feasibility studies have been conducted by the National Petrochemical Company, and the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone has committed to creating the necessary infrastructure for downstream industries. Over 350 hectares have been allocated for these units.
Supporting domestic production ‘a necessity’
Abbaszadeh pointed to the establishment of a research, technology, and domestic production department at the National Petrochemical Company, stating, “Supporting domestic production is essential, and we fully back this sector. Orders in the petrochemical industry are carefully placed, and the use of locally made equipment will increase.”
He added, “Currently, about 75% of equipment in petrochemical projects is domestically produced, which will rise to around 80%. To facilitate this, we’ve created a department to connect businesses and local manufacturers with petrochemical companies.”
