Mostafa Barzegar said Tuesday (Feb. 17) that meetings of 16 specialized working groups concluded, and discussions across multiple sectors were summarized.
Some issues will be addressed at a restricted meeting Wednesday morning (Feb. 18) between senior officials from both countries, he said. Following those talks, the final document will be signed at a plenary session, and the commission’s closing ceremony will be held.
Follow-up on Previous Agreements, Removal of Bottlenecks
Barzegar said the sessions focused on implementing resolutions and understandings reached during the 18th commission, as well as monitoring the progress of projects by Russian companies in Iran.
Within that framework, executive bottlenecks and obstacles were identified, and decisions were made on measures to resolve them, he said. New topics in the oil and gas sector — including the development of certain fields and potential investments by Russian firms — were also discussed, with outcomes incorporated into the final document.
Regarding implementation, Barzegar said the commission’s secretariat will coordinate with relevant agencies to follow up on energy-related resolutions and other matters.
Oversight Mechanism for Implementation
Barzegar said specialized working groups are required to continuously monitor implementation through in-person or virtual meetings and submit regular reports.
He emphasized that monthly and quarterly performance reports from relevant bodies will be sent to the first vice president and the Foreign Ministry’s economic diplomacy department. After evaluation, a final summary will be prepared for submission to the presidency.
