According to the National Iranian Gas Company, Saeid Tavakoli told a meeting with heads of provincial gas companies that their performance during the winter peak demand period ensured the network remained stable on days of highest consumption.
He credited round-the-clock efforts by gas industry employees and careful network management for maintaining stability, citing rare achievements in gas transmission and distribution across various regions.
Tavakoli pointed to maximum utilization of station capacity and pressure management in northern and colder provinces, saying lessons from previous years contributed to improved handling of critical conditions. He called for documenting this year’s experiences and translating them into operational plans for the future.
The CEO described the tariff reform, implemented after years without changes, as one of the energy sector’s key measures. “The goal is not to raise state revenue, but to correct consumption behavior and increase sensitivity toward energy use as a national asset,” he said.
He added that the policy enabled more accurate analysis of subscriber consumption data and helped identify abnormal usage, home-based businesses and some developments outside regulations.
Tavakoli emphasized the need to strengthen metering systems, reduce reading errors, analyze consumption data, address network leaks and conduct regular maintenance at CGS stations. He urged provinces to begin planning for next winter, prioritizing preventive actions such as pipeline cleaning, removing bottlenecks and upgrading equipment.
The deputy oil minister for gas affairs also called for recording and sharing successful provincial experiences, implementing demand management initiatives in neighborhoods and industries, and using the capacity of mosques and local institutions to promote a culture of efficient energy use.
Concluding, Tavakoli said the future of the global economy and energy security depends on proper resource management, urging that consumption reform and efficiency programs be pursued more vigorously in the coming year to turn current gains into lasting results.
