NDF urged to accelerate South Pars pressure boost project

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Energy Committee in Parliament emphasized that implementing the South Pars pressure enhancement project will alleviate concerns in the energy sector.

Mousa Ahmadi called on financial institutions, including the National Development Fund, to recognize the urgency of the matter and step up their involvement, following the example of Oil Ninister Mohsen Paknejad, who is actively engaged in the efforts.

The MP highlighted the signing of contracts for the pressure enhancement of the South Pars joint gas field, describing it as a critical initiative long prioritized by the Energy Commission. Experts have consistently advocated for its swift implementation, as the field is expected to face pressure declines in the near future.

He noted that, fortunately, under the current administration and through the efforts of the oil minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, significant contracts worth approximately $17 billion have been signed with four domestic companies. If executed promptly and effectively, these contracts will address many energy-related concerns.

Ahmadi stressed that the South Pars pressure enhancement project is a major achievement and urged financial institutions, including the National Development Fund, to understand the sensitivity of the issue and join the effort to expedite its completion.

The $17 billion contract for the South Pars gas field pressure enhancement project was signed on Saturday, March 9, in the presence of the president and senior oil industry officials.
