Most comprehensive park of methanol chain launched at Mehr Tab Parsian Petrochemical

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Mehr Tab Parsian Petrochemical Company described a project by his company as the most comprehensive park for producing methanol-derived products, aimed at completing the methanol production chain within subsidiary companies.

Alireza Mojarad, referencing the overarching policies aligned with creating sustainable wealth for members of the Teachers Savings Fund, stated that the Mehr Tab Parsian Petrochemical Project is being implemented to finalize the methanol production chain within the subsidiaries of this holding company.

He emphasized that it stands as the largest petrochemical project in the downstream sector.

Mojarad noted that the Mehr Tab Parsian Petrochemical Project is located in the Parsian Energy-Intensive Industries Special Zone in Hormuzgan Province, which offers the best geographical position for downstream projects.

He added that the project reduces feedstock and energy transportation costs and, due to its proximity to the sea, has the capacity for direct exports. This, he said, will create a favorable economic future for the Cultural Savings Fund.

The CEO highlighted the establishment of the most comprehensive methanol derivatives production park within the project. Initially conceived as a GTX project (gas-to-x units converting methane gas into higher-value products), it was later revised to include MTP, MTO, MTG, and formaldehyde park projects due to regulatory requirements and gas imbalances. As a result, Mehr Tab Parsian will become a complete park for methanol downstream products.

Mojarad emphasized that Mehr Tab Parsian is a multi-billion-dollar project, with financing plans and negotiations nearing completion. Operational activities are set to begin soon.

Given the diversity of its product portfolio and proximity to feedstock sources and export hubs, he stated that Mehr Tab Parsian will soon become one of the country’s most significant petrochemical complexes.

He also mentioned that the project will produce products such as propylene and polypropylene, which have diverse applications across various industries. Other future products include superabsorbents, gasoline, LPG gas, various formaldehyde resins, and resins for the paint, coating, and adhesive industries.
