Petchem industry: Iran’s strategic stronghold in times of crisis

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), in a message, praised the selfless dedication of the industry’s employees during the 12-day attack by the Zionist regime, calling the petrochemical sector a strategic, people-centered institution and a pillar of the country in critical times.

Hassan Abbaszadeh emphasized its unparalleled role in maintaining stability and meeting the essential needs of the people.

According to the NPC, the message from Abbaszadeh reads as follows:

"Esteemed and hardworking colleagues of Iran’s proud petrochemical industry,

Following one of the most sensitive and honorable chapters in Iran’s contemporary history—the brutal attack by the Zionist regime on our beloved country—I feel compelled to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering resolve, sacrifice, dedication, and admirable readiness across the nation.

You, our noble and committed colleagues, understood the gravity of the situation from the first moments of this crisis. Without hesitation, you stood firm at your posts, resolutely safeguarding petrochemical facilities at the highest level possible. Through well-organized morning and evening crisis management meetings, precise decision-making, and coordinated implementation of measures, we reassured our fellow citizens near petrochemical plants that their safety was our priority. We ensured that operations continued flawlessly and without interruption in line with established protocols.

During this period, the NPC and all petrochemical units across the country went beyond their usual duties, leveraging technological and human resources to adapt processes and ensure the stable supply of essential materials. This achievement was made possible through unparalleled coordination among the NPC, petrochemical companies, and oil industry entities—all working as a cohesive unit under the Ministry of Petroleum. This collaboration set a lasting example of unity, foresight, and synergy in crisis management.

Undoubtedly, this success would not have been possible without the solidarity of all managers, officials, and employees—both in the public and private sectors. Alongside the outstanding role of production complexes, private petrochemical companies and holdings, recognizing their critical responsibility, acted swiftly and precisely in line with the NPC’s governance strategies. Their efforts positioned the industry to face the crisis effectively in the shortest time possible.

The timely and selfless presence of employees across the nation demonstrated that the petrochemical industry is not merely an economic sector but a strategic, people-centered institution and a national stronghold in times of crisis.

The invaluable lessons from these 12 days—marked by your collective wisdom and participation—have now been fully documented and will undoubtedly serve as a guiding light for future crisis management in the industry.

I sincerely thank each of you—managers, experts, engineers, workers, and dedicated employees—who, with courage and insight, safeguarded the nation’s stability and once again proved yourselves as true sons and daughters of this land.

Today, Iran’s petrochemical industry stands prouder than ever. Relying on its invaluable human capital, it will continue its path of development with renewed strength, serving as a source of pride and a reliable pillar for our beloved country."
