Gholamabbas Hosseini said Wednesday that from the beginning of the year (March 20, 2024) until the end of Dey, the 10th month of the Iranian calendar (January 19), 168 billion cubic meters of gas were produced at the South Pars Gas Complex.
He noted that sweet gas production this year was 2.2 billion cubic meters higher than last year.
Hosseini explained that this increase in production is equivalent to three days of gas consumption for residential, commercial, and non-major industrial sectors, and meets 18 days of gas demand for Tehran.
He added that, in addition to increased gas production, significant improvements were made at the complex, including the installation of two turbines at the 13th refinery.
The CEO stated that the installation of these turbines increased sweet gas production by 10 million cubic meters in two phases. Additionally, production at the Fajr refinery rose by 6 million cubic meters.
Hosseini emphasized the flexibility among refineries for gas processing, ensuring that no gas was left on the platforms and no gas entrapment occurred in South Pars.
He noted that on February 2, a production record of 595 million cubic meters of sweet gas was set, the highest in the complex's history.
By the end of Dey, over 200 million barrels of gas condensates were produced, with about 50% sent as feedstock to the Persian Gulf Star Refinery, while the remainder was allocated to petrochemical plants and exports.
Hosseini highlighted the South Pars Gas Complex's significant contribution to revenue generation, noting that it has ranked first in the Ministry of Oil's initial production metrics for several years. He also mentioned that the Ministry of Oil leads in initial production metrics nationwide.
During a recent visit by the Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy to the South Pars Gas Complex, commercializing products was discussed.
Hosseini emphasized that refineries from the sixth onward are domestically constructed, with over 95% of equipment supplied by local manufacturers.
