Petchem Industry Could Revive Iran Economy: Official

TEHRAN (Shana) – The secretary general of Iran's Association of Petrochemical Industry Corporation (APIC) said the petrochemical industry can revive Iran's economy.

According to Jam Petrochemical Company, Ahmad Mahdavi said in a meeting with members of the Industrial Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the CEO and a group of executives of Jam Petrochemical Plant: "We consider the Industrial Commission very close to us and feel that it understands the problems. The expectation is that we will be helped, because if you do not support us, we will be in trouble.”

He thanked the members of the Industrial Commission and the Presidium of the Parliament and the Export Development Faction, and said: "The launch of the PDH Jam Petrochemical unit will help the production of petrochemical caviar, ie it has value added to key projects."

The APIC Secretary General further underlined the sanctions and the resulting problems, and said: "If the petrochemical industry is supported, there will be no need for petrodollars for another 10 years and petrochemical revenue will provide at least 60-70% of the country's needs."

Mahdavi noted: “Petrochemical industry as a way of salvation and locomotive of the country's economic movement can play a role, provided that they understand our words and needs”.
