POGC Adopts WIMS for South Pars Wells

TEHRAN (Shana) – Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has launched Well Integrity Management System or WIMS to ensure safe and stable gas production in South Pars gas field.

According to POGC, the system (WIMS) was developed and implemented in the form of engineering, operational and management measures to reduce the risk of fluid leakage into the environment outside the well and the entry of non-reservoir fluid into‍ the well.

It is a software application for data collection, handling and reporting of well integrity, which enables a uniform and structured approach for describing the status and handling of well integrity issues throughout the production phase of a well.

Mohammad Ayuman, Deputy of Technical Services of Wells in Production and Operations Management of Pars Oil and Gas Company, said this system can be introduced as the first well-written well management system in the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, which has been developed and implemented after three years of activity.

"Currently, all the productive wells in the South Pars gas field and other wells in hydrocarbon fields, including Kish, Golshan and Bilal, which will be developed in the future, are covered by this system."

Regarding the importance of implementing this system, he said: "Production wells are the most important physical assets in the upstream sector of South Pars and the wells integrity management system is a change of approach from traditional wells management to codified and knowledge-based management based on the principles of managing the integrity of physical assets and engineering knowledge.”
