Average household gas use in third week of Azar hits 533 mcm a day

SHANA (Tehran) – Natural gas consumption in the household, commercial and small industrial sectors rose during the third week of Azar, averaging about 533 million cubic meters per day, according to data from the National Iranian Gas Co. The highest daily use in the period exceeded 546 million cubic meters on Dec. 6.

Company figures show demand in these sectors remained high during the third week of Azar as colder weather prompted wider use of heating equipment.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, gas consumption in the household, commercial and small industrial sectors reached 546.05 million cubic meters. Usage eased slightly on Sunday, Dec. 7, to 540.03 million cubic meters, then declined to 530.05 million cubic meters on Monday, Dec. 8. Consumption remained nearly unchanged on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 529.40 million cubic meters.

Gas use edged up on Wednesday, Dec. 10, to 533.95 million cubic meters, before slipping to 531.51 million cubic meters on Thursday, Dec. 11. By the end of the week, consumption fell to 517.27 million cubic meters on Friday, Dec. 12.

Overall, gas consumption in the household, commercial and small industrial sectors totaled more than 3.728 billion cubic meters over the seven-day period, underscoring continued heavy use as the country moved deeper into the cold season.
