More than 30,000 drivers register for free dual-fuel conversion

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the CNG project at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said more than 30,000 people have registered over the past month for the government’s free gasoline-to-dual-fuel vehicle conversion program. He said using CNG, in addition to its economic, environmental and energy security benefits, can cut annual fuel costs for high-consumption households by more than 50 million tomans.

Speaking Wednesday on a live television program, Saeid Rahman-Salari said the free conversion initiative has received strong public interest. He said more than 30,000 people have registered on the NIODC platform in the past month and about 27,000 vehicles are now waiting in line for conversion.

Rahman-Salari said about 300 workshops across the country are currently prepared to carry out the free conversions, and the number will soon increase to 350. All public-service vehicle owners — including pickup trucks, taxis and ride-hailing cars introduced by the Interior Ministry — can register for free conversion at gcr.niopdc.ir.
