Daily CNG consumption in Iran exceeds 21 mcm

SHANA (Tehran) – The manager of the CNG project at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company announced that over 21 million cubic meters (mcm) of compressed natural gas (CNG) are consumed daily in Iran.

During a visit to ongoing projects and CNG fueling stations in the Urmia region, Saeid Rahman-Salari highlighted the company’s robust infrastructure for providing clean CNG fuel to citizens.

He emphasized the environmental and economic benefits of using CNG and noted that initiatives such as the free dual-fuel conversion program for public vehicles have contributed to increased consumption of this clean fuel in the province.

Rahman-Salari stated that the region currently has 78 CNG fueling stations, of which 37 are single-purpose and 41 are multi-purpose.

Given the rise in air pollution in recent weeks, he stressed that increased use of natural gas significantly reduces air pollutants. Expanding CNG stations and promoting dual-fuel vehicle conversions remain top priorities for the company.
