Free dual-fuel conversion for public vehicles starts in Sistan and Baluchestan

SHANA (Tehran) – The manager of the CNG project at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company announced the start of a free registration program to convert public gasoline-powered vehicles to dual-fuel (CNG and gasoline) in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

Saeid Rahman-Salari stated that starting today (Tuesday), all owners of public vehicles, including taxis, light and heavy vans, private passenger vehicles covered by the Ministry of Interior, and all ride-hailing taxis in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, can register and select a workshop through the website gcr.niopdc.ir after being introduced by relevant unions. The conversion of their vehicles to dual-fuel will be provided free of charge.

He added that alongside the launch of CNG stations in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, the free conversion program for gasoline-powered vehicles to CNG, which had been halted for some time due to a lack of funding, has resumed nationwide.

Rahman-Salari emphasized that the program is entirely free and noted plans to expand the number of conversion workshops in the province by the end of the year, in line with the increase in fuel stations.

He urged private sector applicants interested in establishing workshops to obtain the necessary permits through the Alternative Fuels Union.

18 new CNG stations to open

Rahman-Salari mentioned that two CNG stations are currently operational in Zahedan and one in Iranshahr.

In line with government and Ministry of Oil policies to develop the CNG fuel industry in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, six new CNG stations, with over 95% physical progress, will be launched by the end of the current year (March 20) in various cities across the province, increasing the total number of stations to nine.

He further stated that by the end of this year, new stations will open in Iranshahr, Mohammadabad, Zahedan (two stations), Hamoun, and Zabol.

In addition to the six new stations in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, 12 other CNG stations will be launched nationwide by the end of February, in collaboration with the government and private sector in Kerman, Lorestan, East Azerbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, Isfahan, and Tehran.

Rahman-Salari also reported that daily CNG consumption in the country is 19.5 million liters, with a daily production capacity of 40 million liters.

He highlighted the free taxi tank replacement program, noting that approximately 8,000 taxi tanks have been replaced so far. Public taxi owners across the country with tanks older than 15 years or experiencing technical issues can register for tank replacement through the conversion program’s online system.
