Houshang Seidali, director of gas supply coordination at the company, said average temperatures have been about 0.7 degrees Celsius lower than last year, driving higher gas use across all sectors, especially households.
Speaking live on TV program, Seidali said the projected level of consumption could create challenges for the industrial sector.
He said monitoring and oversight measures are being enforced at high-consuming government offices in line with a Cabinet resolution adopted in August 2025. Under the directive, the standard indoor temperature for government offices is set at 20 degrees Celsius, and all ministries have been notified. Offices that fail to comply will receive a warning, followed by gas disconnection if noncompliance continues.
Seidali added that high-consuming customers in the third and fourth usage tiers will face higher gas bills if they do not curb consumption. As household and small industrial demand rises, gas supplies to industry may have to be reduced, he said, calling on all customers to conserve gas.
