Tehran gas consumption hits 91 mcm

SHANA (Tehran) – Gas consumption in Tehran province reached 91 million cubic meters over the past 24 hours, the provincial gas company’s spokesperson said, calling on residents to help manage usage by observing simple conservation measures.

According to the state broadcaster IRIB, Ali-Asghar Navaei said gas consumption in the residential, commercial and small industrial sectors rose 12% compared with last week, driven by a noticeable drop of several degrees in recent days.

Citing forecasts from the national meteorological organization that colder weather will persist and intensify in the coming days, Navaei said the arrival of a new cold wave is expected to further increase energy demand. He urged residents to take gas consumption management seriously starting now.

Emphasizing safety and efficient use, Navaei advised citizens to set indoor temperatures at homes and workplaces to 20 degrees Celsius, describing it as one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce gas consumption.

He also highlighted the impact of small, practical steps in cutting energy waste, urging residents to cover air conditioner vents and ducts and prevent the escape of warm air. Such cooperation, he said, helps ensure a stable gas supply for people across the country, particularly in colder regions.
