According to the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC), the unit is constructed with the aim of completing the value chain in northeastern Iran, preventing the sale of raw materials and developing various strategic products without the presence of foreign experts.

Karim Deljavan, the CEO of Urmia Petrochemical, noting that the production line of potassium sulfate is operating with an annual capacity of 40,000 tons, said: "Considering the launch of this production line, the company's product portfolio is more diverse."

Potassium was added to the company's product portfolio with the aim of producing a by-product of hydrochloric acid with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year, which is one of the raw materials used in the poly-aluminum chloride (pac) project of the company, he said. This project is being developed in line with the goal of completing the value chain and is one of the development projects of Urmia Petrochemical Plant, for which preparations have begun.

The CEO of Urmia Petrochemical Plant further declared his company had devised detailed plans for diversifying its product portfolio.

Urmia Petrochemical Plant is a subsidiary of Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group (Petrol).
