NIGEC, Georgian GIEC to Sign Contract for 40m cm Gas Exports

TEHRAN, July 31 (Shana) – Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) Ali-Reza Kameli said on Sunday that the NIGEC and Georgian International Energy Corporation have signed a contract for gas exports.

Kameli told Shana that volume of gas exports to Georgia will stand at 40 million cubic meters in a four-month period tentatively.

He said the requisite for implementation of the contract is receipt of necessary licenses from Armenia.

Georgian International Energy Corporation engages in the generation and transmission of energy from hydro power plants, coal fired power plants, and coal power plants in Georgia. It also engages in the import and distribution of gas to industrial customers, including cement, brick, glass, wine, and chemical manufacturers; and import of diesel from Azerbaijan for wholesale. The company was founded in 2005 and is based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Georgian International Energy Corporation operates as a subsidiary of The Georgian Industrial Group.

Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh had in a meeting with Armenian Minister of Energy last week said Iran has signed a miniature agreement with a Georgian purchaser for tentative gas deal and it is hoped to be in force this year with export of Iranian gas through Armenian territory.
