Speaking during a meeting Monday with university professors, Pezeshkian said energy development and consumption policies should be based on scientific research while taking economic, social, human and environmental considerations into account.
According to the presidential office, the meeting was part of a series of discussions with academics from various disciplines focused on the government’s strategy of assigning universities a more mission-oriented role in solving the country’s key issues. Pezeshkian said the approach is central to improving governance and strengthening public-sector management.
The president criticized shortcomings in resource and energy management, saying managers who fail to effectively control energy and resource consumption within their organizations should have their performance questioned. He said officials should be evaluated based on clear indicators, including productivity, efficient resource management, service quality and public satisfaction.
Pezeshkian also said giving universities a greater role in policy implementation would help modernize the country’s management system, arguing that academic expertise and scientific methods can support Iran’s development and economic progress.
