Ramezanali Sangdovini said the free CNG program is expected to increase the use of the cleaner fuel while reducing reliance on gasoline. He stressed that any initiative which helps manage fuel consumption and protect national resources without placing additional financial pressure on citizens deserves full support.

He noted that Iran's Seventh Development Plan emphasizes non-price measures for managing fuel consumption. According to Sangdovini, the preferred approach is to improve consumption patterns through practical alternatives rather than raising fuel prices. The plan prioritizes diversifying the country's transportation fuel mix, expanding CNG use, promoting LPG within established technical and legal frameworks, and accelerating the electrification of public transportation.

Sangdovini added that expanding alternative fuel infrastructure, increasing incentives for CNG adoption, modernizing public transport, and advancing electrification are key strategies for improving fuel efficiency while minimizing the economic burden on households. He emphasized the importance of leveraging domestic resources to reduce dependence on gasoline and strengthen Iran's energy security.

He also expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Oil and the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company for supporting the free CNG initiative, saying that expert-driven policies and a diversified fuel portfolio are essential for sustainable energy consumption management.

Coinciding with the start of the Persian month of Mordad, the nationwide campaign "United for Iran: Free CNG for the People of Iran" has officially launched with the voluntary participation of more than 1,000 CNG fueling stations across the country. The campaign aims to support citizens, encourage the use of cleaner CNG fuel, reduce gasoline consumption, and make better use of Iran's existing alternative fuel infrastructure.
