Iran, South Africa seek stronger energy 0artnership at BRICS

SHANA (Tehran) — Iran and South Africa discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in the energy sector during a meeting on the sidelines of the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting in India. Iranian Oil Minister met Thursday with South African Minister of Electricity and Energy on the second day of his visit to India. The two officials exchanged views on strengthening energy ties and advancing cooperation between Tehran and Pretoria.

Paknejad emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral collaboration in the energy sector during the talks.
On Wednesday, the Iranian oil minister also met with Indian Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting is being held June 25-26 in the city of Gurugram.
The BRICS group brings together 11 major emerging markets and developing economies: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and United Arab Emirates.
