Paknejad arrived in India to participate in the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled for June 25-26 in Gurugram, where ministers from member states will discuss energy cooperation, sustainable development and shared priorities in the sector.
Speaking upon his arrival in India, Paknejad highlighted the long-standing relationship between Tehran and New Delhi.
“Iran and India have enjoyed historical and friendly relations for centuries,” he said, adding that his visit would include participation in official BRICS sessions as well as bilateral meetings with officials from member countries.
Paknejad said the outcomes of the discussions would be announced after the conclusion of the meetings.
Referring to sanctions on Iran, the minister said interactions with partners are continuing within the framework of existing agreements and understandings. He emphasized that Iran is prepared to further develop economic relations and cooperation in various sectors with friendly nations, particularly India, and to make greater use of available capacities to expand bilateral ties.
The BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting is expected to review initiatives undertaken by member countries to promote sustainable energy development and enhance cooperation among the bloc's major energy producers and consumers.
India is hosting this year's meeting in Gurugram, bringing together energy ministers and senior officials from BRICS member states to discuss common challenges and opportunities in the global energy landscape.
