Ali-Akbar Shabanpour said the hook-up operations in Phase 16 of South Pars are 90 percent complete.
He added that the platform is predicted to become operational in November to carry sour gas to land.
Shabanpour said Phase 15 platform will be launched one month after Phase 16’s.
Phases 15&16 of South Pars are expected to produce at least 40 mcm of gas during next winter.
The phases 15&16 development of South Pars are expected to produce 56.6 mcm/d of natural gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate, 400 tons a day of sulfur, 1.05 million tons a year of liquefied petroleum gas and one million tons a year of ethane to feed petrochemical plants.
South Pars, an offshore field shared with Qatar, currently supplies 72 percent (300 mcm/d) of Iran’s gas needs.
