In his statement, Ayatollah Khamenei said that, as the public is aware, an MoU has been signed between the heads of the two countries. He noted that Iranian officials had made extensive efforts to reach this stage out of concern for national interests and goodwill, while stating that the US president had relied on various forms of pressure to advance the process.
Ayatollah Khamenei said he had initially held a different view regarding the agreement but ultimately authorized it based on commitments made by the Iranian president, in his capacity as head of the Supreme National Security Council, and other council members to safeguard the rights of the Iranian people and the Axis of Resistance. He said the president had also pledged that Iran would reject any excessive demands from the US side.
“From this moment, we — the proud Iranian nation and this humble servant — will be waiting for the fulfillment of the stated conditions,” Khamenei said.
He emphasized that any future face-to-face negotiations should not be interpreted as acceptance of the adversary’s position, adding that Iran would continue to defend its interests and principles.
The Leader concluded by expressing hope that divine guidance and support would bring success and victories to the Iranian nation.
