Speaking at the 41st meeting of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce’s board of representatives, Mohajerani said decisions on electricity and natural gas distribution are being made to balance household demand with the need to maintain stable industrial production. She emphasized that support for the private sector remains a key government priority.
Mohajerani noted that Iran continues to face a serious electricity supply-demand imbalance despite increasing solar power generation capacity to 5,500 megawatts.
She said war-related damage has reduced the country’s natural gas capacity by approximately 230 million cubic meters per day, creating challenges for supplying fuel to power plants. As a result, authorities have been forced to implement electricity consumption management measures across both residential and industrial sectors to maintain grid stability.
Mohajerani stressed the need for realistic policy decisions based on current conditions and called on citizens to help ease pressure on the energy system by reducing consumption.
The government, she said, is seeking to minimize disruptions to productive and industrial activities while addressing the constraints facing the country’s energy network.
