Oil, Energy ministries coordinate for summer peak

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Parliament’s Energy Committee said close coordination between the Oil Ministry and the Energy Ministry is helping prepare the country for peak summer electricity demand, expressing hope that effective planning will prevent power outages.

Speaking on Monday on the sidelines of a meeting between members of the Parliament’s Energy Committee and Mohammad-Sadeq Azimifar, deputy oil minister for refining and distribution affairs, Mousa Ahmadi said the session focused on ensuring a stable fuel supply for the country’s power plants.

Ahmadi noted that the committee has held a series of energy-related meetings in recent weeks. Since the beginning of the Iranian month of Khordad, coordination efforts have intensified among the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution and Refining Company, the National Iranian Gas Company, the Oil Ministry and officials from the Energy Ministry to address energy needs for both the summer and winter seasons.

He said the goal of the consultations is to assess the electricity sector’s fuel requirements and ensure adequate supplies during periods of high demand.

According to Ahmadi, fuel demand forecasts and supply tables for the power sector were finalized during Monday’s meeting. The documents will be reviewed and submitted for final approval within the next week by the national task force established to address energy imbalances.

He added that continued cooperation between the oil and power sectors is expected to strengthen energy security and support reliable electricity generation during the summer months.
