Fereydoun Hemmati said that consumption management, facilitating imports and maintaining a balance between supply and demand are essential to controlling inflation during wartime conditions. He stressed the need to explain to the public that, just as citizens are supporting the country through their resilience, the economy also requires their cooperation.
“Managing consumption and controlling demand can be viewed as a national and defensive responsibility, much like public participation on the front lines,” Hemmati said.
He described excessive energy consumption as a major challenge and said efforts to regulate energy use should not rely on higher prices. Instead, he called for diversifying the fuel mix, expanding renewable energy sources and promoting a culture of conservation across the country.
Hemmati also highlighted the role of the media in encouraging efficient energy use. He said both supply and demand should be continuously monitored, while public awareness campaigns should present responsible consumption as a national value. At the same time, he urged the government to support businesses and facilitate border trade to help increase the supply of goods.
The lawmaker praised oil industry workers for maintaining uninterrupted fuel distribution during wartime conditions. He noted that some oil facilities had been targeted by enemy attacks aimed at disrupting daily life and fuel supplies.
According to Hemmati, those efforts were thwarted through effective management by the Oil Ministry and the dedication of operational and administrative personnel across the oil sector, ensuring continued fuel delivery to the public despite the challenges.
