According to icana.ir, Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, serving as Iran’s special representative for China, met Wednesday with Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Madanizadeh, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Atabak, Central Bank of Iran Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, and Plan and Budget Organization Head Hamid Pourmohammadi.
During the meeting, participants assessed the current level of engagement between Iran and China, while members of the government’s economic team outlined their priorities and expectations for bilateral cooperation.
Qalibaf briefed officials on recent developments and Iran’s plans regarding China, highlighting the country’s evolving policy approach toward its strategic partner.
Economic ministers also discussed key aspects of China’s economic conduct during the recent conflict, referred to in Iran as the “Third Imposed War,” as well as during the period when the Strait of Hormuz was closed. Major issues affecting bilateral ties were reviewed, and it was agreed that proposals aimed at strengthening relations and addressing existing challenges would be submitted to Iran’s special representative.
The meeting also examined mechanisms for greater coordination and cooperation among government institutions to ensure a consistent national approach toward relations with China.
According to the report, Qalibaf is not only overseeing current bilateral matters but is also developing a new strategic framework to deepen Iran-China relations and expand cooperation on regional and international issues. The initiative aims to present China, regarded by Tehran as a strategic partner, with a renewed vision for future engagement.
