Core strengths of Iran’s oil industry proven during third imposed war

SHANA (Tehran) – The deputy head of Parliament’s Energy Committee said the strong performance of Iran’s oil industry during the third imposed war demonstrated the sector’s deep-rooted technical, managerial and human capabilities.

Farhad Shahraki said the Oil Ministry managed to maintain nationwide fuel supply despite the loss of part of the country’s refining capacity and disruptions to the main national pipeline.

He said refineries in Tehran, Isfahan and Tabriz were quickly brought to maximum production levels, increasing gasoline and other petroleum product output to offset shortages caused by damage.

Shahraki added that fuel transport capacity rose significantly after loading procedures for road tanker fleets were standardized. He said the deployment of mobile storage tanks at strategic locations also helped ensure stable supply.

According to him, the measures reflected the oil industry’s strong ability to redesign supply chains under emergency conditions.

He said Oil Ministry officials also prevented the emergence of a widespread black market through efficient distribution, targeted prioritization and guaranteed fuel supplies for public transportation fleets and other vital sectors.

Shahraki described agile field leadership and a committed workforce as two key factors in crisis management. He said the rapid formation of a fully empowered fuel crisis headquarters, supported by operational personnel, enabled uninterrupted decision-making on critical issues.

He added that oil industry engineers in operational areas took effective steps to secure pipelines and contain fires despite dangerous conditions.

Shahraki said the preemptive evacuation of threatened storage depots and the high level of commitment among employees were also critical to maintaining operations.

He said after enemy attacks on several oil facilities, damaged pipelines were quickly isolated and product flows redirected to secure routes. He added that the strategic relocation of reserves from threatened depots helped prevent major losses to national resources.

Shahraki said the oil industry’s performance during the Third Imposed War showed that the sector benefits from strong foundational capabilities, particularly a dedicated workforce.
